Case Study

Can you tell me a little about Zizzi St Albans?
Zizzi St Albans is one of the latest Zizzi restaurant completions. We have restaurants all over the South of England and have now developed the concept in the North. Zizzi is a welcoming chain of Italian restaurants, offering good quality, fresh Italian food at reasonable prices. Zizzi St Albans has a rustic, wooden interior design with a large wood burning stove to highlight the freshness of the dishes. The restaurant is suitable for both evening and lunch time dining with outside seating for those wishing to eat out at lunch.

Did CCS carry out all the refrigeration work at Zizzi St Albans?
CCS were responsible for the specialist feature glass coldroom and remote plant required at Zizzi St Albans. The glass element within cold room was a major visual design issue and thereofore we needed to ensure we worked with a company who could deliver, fortunately CCS have supplied many similar type products and proved an excellent choice.

“We were very satisfied with the installation; the main thing for us is that the project is completed on time, to budget and to a high quality and CCS achieved this”

How did you come across CCS initially?
The quantity surveyor we use recommended CCS to us for the project. He had worked with them previously and were aware of their ability to make bespoke products as well as standard. It was this recommendation and their experience in the industry that convinced us to go ahead and work with CCS Refrigeration.

Did you encounter any problems whilst working on the project?
As with any large project we did encounter a number of inevitable problems. The cold room had to be installed around existing structures and was therefore more complex than some installations. Working to such tight timescales also meant problems were inevitably going to occur and this highlighted the need for good communication between CCS, Zizzi and the main contractor. CCS coordinated well with the main contractor and worked closely with them to overcome
the issues.

Despite the structural issues were you satisfied with the overall installation?
We were very satisfied with the installation; the main thing for us is that the project is completed on time, to budget and to a high quality and CCS achieved this. CCS attended site on 1st day of fit out and informed all partied of their requirements and overall dimensions, we were unable to wait for walls to be in place to take final dimensions as programme was very tight indeed. CCS had an air of confidence in their ability to work in these conditions Visually the installation was very strong which was a key part of the project.

“CCS were bought into Zizzi specifically for their ability to design and build a glass cold room and when this concept is continued, rest assured CCS will be
involved.”

What do you expect from a supplier like CCS Refrigeration?
Overall I d say we expect a high quality finish on the installation and the supplier must be able to work well with the main contractor. If they don t have a good relationship it reflects on the whole project. Problems will occur in any project but as long as they can be overcome that is main thing. CCS were able to do this so we were more than satisfied with them as a supplier.

Do you plan to work with CCS in the future?
CCS were bought into Zizzi specifically for their ability to design and build a glass cold room and when this concept is continued, rest assured CCS will be involved.
